You'll need to get a good mechanic to look at this as the fuel system might need to be depressurised before any work can be done. My car was built in 08/2008 so i didn't think it was my issue, but i took a look anyways. And in may 2010, bmw issued a tsb that extended the hpfp warranty from 4 years or 50,000 miles to 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever.
Bmw filled the trunk lid with foam as it was much cheaper than fixing the issue which was to replace the bridgestone re050a's.
It is one of the most loquacious systems we've used, continually advising us not to take each. That said, we expect this issue to be addressed with the 2011 model that features a single, larger turbo. The bmw n54 engine might be the best tuner engine of all time…at least we think so.
